Job Summary:

We are looking for new product lines to help us, our suppliers and our retail partners grow! The Buyer plays an integral role at H&H with the key responsibility of evaluating potential supplier partnerships within specific categories. 
The job entails finding products that will sell well and generate profits for H&H.  This evaluation includes: -analyzing price & margin, -finding products/brands that have unique characteristics, sales momentum and/or points of differentiation in marketplace, -finding products/brands that are at the right stage of growth and distribution and more.
This position will also entail identifying consumer trends, negotiating deals with suppliers, forecasting sales & margins, and working with Vendor Managers at H&H to make sure that the business with manufacturers that you represent is growing and running smoothly.
Importantly, H&H Buyers need to possess negotiation acumen and be excellent communicators with exceptional social skills and moxie.  Keen business savvy and will be required to thrive in this fast-paced environment.  Candidates will be required to source and maintain relationships with new and existing suppliers and be able to create new opportunities for H&H. Our Buyer team plays a central role in driving our business forward.

Job Responsibilities:

Work with H&H Buyers to co-manage assigned Vendors and work pro-actively to help H&H Buyers grow these Vendor accounts with all H&H retail channels
Ensure all Vendor information is accurate and properly loaded into ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system
Enter purchases and sales orders from Vendors that H&H Buyer procure
Send, track and follow-up on purchase orders with your assigned Vendors to ensure on-time delivery
Works with the Marketing department to get product information placed on all marketing outlets (e.g., websites, sell sheets, flyers, etc.)
Collaborate with assigned Vendors to create promotional strategies quarterly including, but not limited to, the following:  -Tradeshow planning and activation, -Online advertising, -Promotional items, -Creation of specials products and/or sizes, -Product discounts, -Product samples and more. 
Stay abreast of Vendors’ product lines as they expand their product lines. Ensure all data on new products (and discontinued products) are loaded properly into ERP and other systems
Keeps performance metrics of Vendors to identify operational performance and make suggestions to assigned Vendors
Work with Accounts Payable department for any invoicing discrepancies
Troubleshoot/communicate all Vendor issues to management with recommendations on how to solve these problemsD
Perform as functional bridge amongst assigned Vendors, H&H Buyers and other H&H departments
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task effectively
Good problem-solvers who can identify issues, make recommendations and execute solutions

Job Requirements:

Bachelors degree in business or a related field and at least two years experience in merchandising, a buying role or something similar  -OR-  at least five years experience in merchandising, a buying role or something similar
Demonstrated negotiating skills
Ability and proficiency with the math involved in managing a category (e.g., net sales, gross margin, operating profit, etc.)
Advanced communication and exceptional interpersonal skills
Ability to multi-task and manage multiple workstreams
A results-driven orientation with strong analytical data-driven thinking
Written and verbal communication skills as well as interpersonal skills to develop and maintain effective business relationships within and outside the company
Computer aptitude with the ability to use spreadsheet and word-processing software

Required:

1-2 years experience in retail or distribution working in purchasing, merchandising or another related role
Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to multi-task and manage concurrent workstreams effectively
Strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking
Proficient in Excel and clear cogent email communication. Overall strong computer aptitude with the ability to use spreadsheet and word-processing software effectively. 
Advanced communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
Self-starting mentality with strong desire to contribute and make an impact

Preferred

Familiarity with Category Business Planning and/or experience in merchandising/purchasing departments
Experience with healthcare products, food & dietary supplements and/or other categories (e.g., sporting goods, home improvement, toys & games, beauty, etc.)
Experience with emerging retail channels (e.g., internet, specialty brick & mortar retail, etc.)
Understanding of procurement, logistics, and inventory management practices
1-2 years supervisory experience

Compensation:

A generous compensation package with performance pay incentives will be determined commensurate with experience
